“A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished” (Proverbs 27:12). Creating a safe children’s ministry involves more than background checks and abuse prevention. This workshop will explore practical policies and procedures for protecting children from abuse, unsafe interactions, medical emergencies, and other potential dangers. We will discuss appropriate boundaries, child-to-child safety, bathroom and check-in procedures, responding to suspected abuse, emergency preparedness, and caring well for children and families after an incident. Come learn how thoughtful preparation can help create a ministry where children are known, protected, and cared for.
